Native Vote 2026
With the important midterm elections just seven months away, Four Directions Native Vote and the Minnesota American Indian Center will host a daylong Native voter and civic engagement training on Friday, March 27, 2026, in Minneapolis.
The event will take place at the Minnesota American Indian Center, located at 1530 East Franklin Avenue, and is designed to strengthen civic participation and empower Native voters ahead of upcoming elections.
The training will be offered in three separate sessions—9:00 to 10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.—with each session featuring a different group of participants. In addition to the training sessions, attendees will have opportunities to engage directly with invited elected officials during scheduled interaction periods throughout the day. Organizers say the format is intended to create both educational and relationship-building opportunities between Native community members and policymakers.
The sessions will cover a wide range of topics focused on civic engagement and navigating government systems. Participants will learn how to work with county and state officials, attend county commission meetings, and access public data.
The training will also include guidance on applying for election-related positions at the county level, understanding the voter registration process, and completing the necessary paperwork to register and vote. A key component of the training will focus on “Get-Out-the-Native Vote” efforts, emphasizing strategies to increase Native voter participation and strengthen political representation in Indian Country.
