Teva Canada is recalling two lots of Seasonique and one lot of Seasonale prescription birth control pills as a precaution after the company received a complaint about a package missing an entire blister card of pills, Health Canada says.
It was specifically a Seasonique package that was affected.
“This may increase the risk of unwanted pregnancy if someone were to miss taking,” those pills, Health Canada warned in a public advisory on Friday.
The recall notice specifies the affected DIN, lot numbers and expiry dates.
Health Canada said if your package is missing a blister card or any pills, return it to your pharmacy for a replacement or an alternative product.
If you cannot get to a pharmacy right away, take the next pill in the proper order as noted in the packaging until you are able to contact your pharmacist.
If you have any concerns, Health Canada said to use another method of non-hormonal backup contraception such as condoms.
