U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, announced on Wednesday the launch of Phase 2 of the plan to end the conflict in Gaza with the establishment of a technocratic Palestinian administration in the enclave.
Witkoff said in a post on social media platform X that the ceasefire deal was entering a phase focused on demilitarizing Gaza, establishing a technocratic government and reconstruction.
He did not offer any details on Wednesday about the new transitional Palestinian administration that would govern Gaza.
“The U.S. expects Hamas to comply fully with its obligations, including the immediate return of the final deceased hostage. Failure to do so will bring serious consequences,” Witkoff said.
